"Every year during the last couple of weeks of October and the first week of November, discover the colorful and monumental Alebrijes, fantastic creatures crafted as paper mache works of art, and marvel at the creativity and imagination of Mexican artists."

Mexico City Local

An explosion of color, prints, and patterns takes over the streets during the annual Alebrijes exhibition. It typically runs during the month of October. Alebrijes refers to mythical Mexican folk sculptures, featuring whimsical little creatures with wings, tails, horns, etc. For example, a cat-like creature has gigantic wings. The parade has been celebrated in Mexico City since 2007. However, don’t expect to see tiny little art sculptures on display. Instead, the creatures are created larger than life, some stretching meters tall above you!
