Dating back to 1837, Mercado do Bolhão is the city’s most historic food market. It was recently renovated in 2023 and attracts locals and visitors every day to shop, browse, and eat. It takes up an entire city block and has 79 stalls selling fresh produce, meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. There are also 10 restaurants on the upper level and 38 shops just outside the market.
