City Wide, Valencia

"Valencia’s most important festival, dating back to the 16th century. The city fills with enormous papier-mâché sculptures, which are dramatically burned at the end of the celebration."
Las Fallas is Valencia’s most famous and popular festival. It takes place from March 1st to March 19th and celebrates the arrival of spring. During these weeks, locals wear traditional dress, dance, eat, and celebrate Valencian culture and tradition. It ends on the 19th when las fallas, large, handmade wooden decorations, are set on fire while fireworks go off across the sky. It’s an event that the whole city waits for all year.
