Catch a break from the city at Lake Marathon. The turquoise blue waters are surrounded by trees all around. This lovely spot, located just outside the city, is perfect for a moment of pause or reflection. Discover a small coffee shop here, too. The lake is manmade (built between 1926 and 1929) and is one of Athens’ water suppliers. A road runs around one end of the dam.
