Madrid hosts several festivals in August, the largest being Fiestas de al Paloma. It honors the Virgin of Paloma with traditional dress, dancing, food, and music. Celebrations are held in several spots in La Latina, especially in the streets around the Virgen de la Paloma church. Events go on all day, but the party starts to pick up around sunset.
