This celebration is to Matosinhos as São João is to Porto. It’s an ancient celebration that takes place in May to honor the patron saint of the city. Even though it’s a small village, an estimated two million visitors come to listen to music, watch fireworks, eat grilled sardines, and enjoy the lively atmosphere. Since there’s so much to do, you’re bound to find something for everyone to enjoy at the festival.
