Haidari, Athens

"This hidden treasure feels like stepping into a green sanctuary. I enjoy wandering through its themed plant sections or just sitting under tall trees with a book whenever I need nature without leaving Athens."
Officially known as the Botanical Garden Julia and Alexander N. Diomedes, Greece’s largest botanical garden, is approximately 20 minutes from the city center. To enter, a pre-purchased electronic ticket is required, available via the official website. Meander around rose bushes and olive groves, passing a lily pond with cute turtles. The gardens are massive, and if you need a break, there is an on-site coffee shop. Or, pack a picnic and choose a spot under shaded trees to chill.
