Alfama, Lisbon

"My favorite coffee and pastry shop in Lisbon—also the city’s oldest pastry shop still in operation."
Just a stone’s throw away from São Jorge castle, you’ll find Lisbon’s oldest pastry shop, Confeitaria Nacional. It was built in 1829 and is still a popular spot for locals to grab a coffee and pastry to start the day. There’s a nice mix of Portuguese specialties and classic French pastries. Visitors can also visit the upper level, which contains the Pombaline architecture of the era when the pastry shop was founded.
