Centro, Madrid

"The best tapas in the area. One minute away of Plaza Mayor but with the taste and quality of an authentic tavern away from the city center."
Spain is the original land of the tapas, and so it’s kind of a must-have while you’re in the country. Casa Fraile is a renowned spot for tapas, especially in the Centro district. Order as many small plates as you like, which are fantastic for sharing, like huevos rotos con jamón, ensaladilla, croquetas, callos (a Madrid speciality), and gambas (shrimp). Prices are a little on the high side. It’s a two-minute walk to Plaza Mayor, as well as the Mercado de San Miguel.
