La Latina, Madrid

"Growing up, my father and I would come here for snails after searching for fútbol stickers at El Rastro flea market."
This tavern in the center of Madrid (La Latina) first opened in 1942 and hasn’t changed much since then. As the name suggests, caracoles (snails) are the house specialty, but you’ll find many other traditional dishes to try, such as callos (stewed tripe), stewed oxtail, fried cod, and crispy croquettes. The restaurant has several rooms, bar seating, and a terrace for outdoor seating.
