Aqueduct of Lisbon / Water Museum

Constructed between 1731 and 1799, the Aqueduct of Lisbon (Águas Livres Aqueduct) spans 941 meters and is 65 meters above the valley. This striking monument is a cool photo opportunity and well off the typical tourist track. Deemed a National Monument since 1910, also here is the Water Museum. Detailing the history of Lisbon’s water supply, there are permanent and temporary exhibitions at the museum. Erected as a piece of Baroque architecture, it’s one of the last classical aqueducts ever raised.
